The Silent War is a social awareness campaign about rape in South Africa illustrated and designed by Greg Richards.
“As there are six colors in the South African flag I developed six different areas of rape to raise awareness towards. Each poster carries a different colour of the flag. The six areas are: child rape; why men rape; woman’s chance of being raped versus learning to read; South Africa being the rape and HIV capital of the world; women are primitively referred to as fair game by men; and the frequency of rape incidents per day. For each image the person is looking directly at the viewer to create a direct communication of the campaign’s message.” writes Richards.

A voice is needed…so speak out!
A voice is needed for the girl who’s father sneaks into her room at night and crawls in her bed
A voice is needed for the young boy who’s uncle makes him touch areas that shouldn’t be touched
A voice is need for the siblings who’s alcoholic mother locks them in a closet and fractures their ribs with blunt objects
A voice is need for the woman who had dreams of making a new start but was sold like the latest pair of high-heeled shoes she now where’s when she’s is forced “on the job”
A voice is needed for the man beaten to a pulp because he had just recently left the gay bar and was on his way home as the word “fag” escapes their lips
A voice is need for the transmen and women who are shunned on a daily basis as “freak” “tranny” and have no where to go
A voice is needed for the lesbian who is ostracized as “dyke” or objectified as a male fantasy in hopes of having a porn scene unfold upon you in the middle of the sidewalk.
A voice is needed for the bisexual who is deemed as “unable to pick a side”
A voice is needed for the women who is raped, and then blamed because she decided to where attire that showed some skin.
A voice is needed for so many people,my list could go on. Silence will only exacerbate the problem.
Speak out!

An amazing poem
Just testing this poetry reciting stuff out..don’t have much experience with speaking my poetry which is odd considering how much I’ve written…but I guess I’ll chalk it up to my shyness.
First poem in the video I wrote when I was 17,second one around the same age.(I’ve been writing long that 17yrs old though)
